Juntar uma série de pessoas num ambiente de (bastante) descontracção com o objectivo de partilhar conhecimentos e aprendar umas coisas novas, é o objectivo dos Barcamp.

Nos dias 2 e 3 de Setembro vai haver um BarCampPortugal em Coimbra, parece-me uma óptima forma de passar um fim de semana.

No contexto da iniciativa de criar em Portalegre um polo de desenvolvimento de jogos de computador e um parque temático, vai decorrer, de 26 a 30 de Setembro, a GAMES 2006.

GAMES 2006 is the first International event focused on the Digital Games thematic promoted by APROJE, aiming to congregate Games Industry people, academics from Universities, and free lancers, around a common goal: "To cooperate in the Creative International Competitive Games Industry". To achieve this, GAMES 2006 will promote a major discussion between game producers and game/technology researchers and students.

Os principais objectivos são:

• Track the creative, artistic and technological capacity in the area
• Promote the creation and production of new ideas for games
• Provide incentives to full cooperation between academics and the industry
• Develop an international network of experts in digital games

Vai ter lugar nos dias 28 e 29 de Setembro em Lisboa, mas precisamente nas instalações da UNL, a SHiFT – Social and Human Ideas For Technology. Ora cá está uma conferência em que gostava particularmente de estar presente, promete juntar um grupo notável de oradores e abordar questões que me interessam.

Os participantes que se inscreverem até 30 de Julho pagam (apenas?) 125 euros.

Vai ter lugar em Lisboa, dia 4 de Julho, a 6th International Workshop on Smart Appliances and Wearable Computing.

O programa sugere muita computação móvel.

This workshop serves as a forum for the exchange of new findings in collaborative technologies and smart appliances deployed in real world environments. We intend to bring together practitioners from academia as well as industry to present their most recent research in these rapidly moving fields. [...] Papers reporting new developments in computing with smart devices such as PDAs, wearable computers, and cellular phones as well as new insights in instrumentation of everyday artefacts and their infrastructures will be invited for presentation.

No contexto de uma série de conferências promovidas pelo IFIP Technical Committee on Communication Systems vai realizar-se, na Universidade de Coimbra, a Networking 2006.

Networking 2006 will take place at the University of Coimbra, Portugal, between May 15 and May 19.
